Last Friday night witnessed a fantastic T20 match at Harborne Cricket Club between the Headmaster’s XI and The Dads. The Headmaster’s team batted first and scored 161 with most of their top order batsmen scoring 25 and retiring as per the rules.
The Dads tried to chase the runs down but fell short by around 25 to 30 runs. Everyone had a great time and we look forward to making this a permanent annual fixture in the Blue Coat calendar.
Congratulations to Jason Grainger who was the man of the match. Special wishes to Jon Sapey and family who had to leave early with a facial injury (required stitches only, thankfully). Thanks to Mr Nicklin (MC), Stuart Pemble and Joe De Bono (umpires), Max Almond (scorer), Damon, Elaine and Rachael and their teams at HCC for providing the ground, bar and BBQ and finally Will Brinkman and Mr Neeson for their efforts in pulling squads together to get this wonderful game on!
Cricket was the winner in the end although the Dads’ XI will be determined to get their hands on the Trophy next year!
