At 2pm the School Hall was full of colour and excitement as Prep gathered for the House Shout competition. This year’s theme was ‘From the Movies’.
First up it was St Philip’s with their sea of red headdresses. They rocked the stage with their rendition of ‘Can’t Stop the Feeling’ from Trolls and certainly gave Justin Timberlake a run for his money with their dance moves! They made the most of their musical talent and it was a passionate performance to kick off the proceedings.
Next it was St Monica’s turn: the girls looked fabulous in their yellow caps, complete with pom poms and cool shades. They gave a wonderful version of ‘We’re all in this Together’ from High School Musical, demonstrating excellent choreography and ending with their very own gymnastics display! Congratulations to the soloists who all sang beautifully.
Third up were the serene harmonies and smooth choreography of St Margaret’s who performed ‘The Locomotion’ from Inland Empire, complete with train moves and their very own drummer!
Last, but not least were St George’s, sporting their cool green wristbands. They gave a heartfelt and accomplished performance of ‘This is Me’ from The Greatest Showman. What a wonderful way to end the 2018 House Shout.
The judges Mr Wurr and Mr Nicklin had a tough decision on their hands as they headed backstage to choose their winners. The pupils, meanwhile, took the chance to practise their lawnmower dances around the School Hall…
The results were as follows –
Best Staff and Pupil Choreography – St Philip’s
Best Artistic and Gymnastic Interpretation – St Monica’s
Best Vocal and Percussion Performance – St Margaret’s
Most Passionate and Heartfelt Performance – St George’s
The overall winners for their moving performance of ‘This is Me’ was St George’s who were crowned the winners of the 2018 House Shout.
Well done everyone and thank you for a wonderful end to the term!
