Blue Coat was abuzz on Saturday 24th March when hundreds of eager bookworms attended the Bournville Bookfest for a fantastic day of talks and interactive workshops. Blue Coat was a main sponsor for the event and welcomed 2000 visitors to the site during the final weekend of the Festival. The rain held off and a wonderful time was had by all!
Morning visitors were treated to a cartoon draw-along with Gary Northfield, were introduced to Nick Sharratt’s new book ‘You Choose in Space’, attended a join-in session with author Julia Jarman and listened to a talk by TV presenter Ben Faulks all about his new book ‘What Makes Me a Me?’. In the afternoon, visitors heard from Birmingham’s Poet Laureate Matt Windle, attended an illustration workshop by Steve Smallman and were captivated by historian Lucy Worsley telling us all about the world’s most famous divorce! The fun did not stop there – Jake Evans gave two wonderful storytelling workshops, comedy duo Knife and Packer performed an illustration show, Paul Stickland introduced us to his brilliant pop-up books, Craig Denston gave a Mask Making Workshop and children went on an adventure with Paula Harrison’s The Rescue Princesses!
